Are you passionate about economics and peace? Economists for Peace and Security Europe is looking for dynamic and visionary board members to expand our team of board members and strengthen the development of the organisation.

Position Description

As a board member, you are responsible for the further expansion of the European and international network of economists engaged in Peace and Security. Together with the team you will strengthen the strategy of EPS to become a platform for discussion and knowledge about the Economics of Peace and Security and to contribute to our online presence, which includes social media, the website and our blog with renowned economists and peace scientists.  Furthermore we welcome new initiatives and strategies, which could include fundraising and organising of conferences and events.


  • MSc, or PhD in economics, or equivalent;
  • Proven interest in (academic) economic research of peace and security;
  • Strategic thinking with strong communication and networking skills.


Period: Commitment for the period 2016-2018

Remuneration: non paid volunteer work.

Time-claim: We ask for commitment, but you can arrange your time in a flexible way according to your own needs. By using up to date communication tools we are able to minimize travel and meeting time.

Economists for Peace and Security (EPS), a UN-registered NGO, is an international network of thirteen affiliated organizations promoting economic analysis and appropriate action for peace, security and the world economy. EPS has chapters in sixteen countries around the world.

Over the years, and with the strong support of a board of trustees with world’s most influential economists, EPS has achieved to enrich the discipline of Economics with the aspect of war, conflict and peace. EPS has always played a strong role though on the background. Since 1989 many positions have been established at universities around the world. It has been the incubator for international research, for institutes, and publications and journals and EPS had its own journal for academic publications.
